Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalWhat if the most important life lessons came not from a classroom — but from quiet, unfiltered conversations with your father?
“A Cigarette With Dad” is not just a book.
It’s a journey through heartbreaks, promotions, failures, love, loss, and growing up — one balcony conversation at a time.
Meet Arjun, a young man navigating the chaos of adulthood, corporate politics, and emotional rollercoasters. Every chapter of his life is a mess… until he meets his father each night, under the stars, to talk. To listen. To feel. And to understand life through the stories of a man who’s already lived it.
And then… life takes a turn.
Time starts running out.
As his father’s health begins to fade, those everyday talks become Arjun’s anchor — and the lessons shared turn into the wisdom of a lifetime. In a world obsessed with perfection and noise, this story reminds us of the quiet strength in vulnerability, and the irreplaceable magic of sitting down and simply… talking.
A Cigarette With Dad is for anyone who’s ever missed their parents while they were sitting right next to them. For the ones growing up too fast. And for every heart that aches for one last conversation.
Warning: This book may make you cry, reflect deeply, call your father, hug your mother, and live a little differently tomorrow.
A fictional story, built on real emotions.
A book for this generation — to feel, to learn, and to remember.

Harshit Pal is not your typical 18-year-old.
He started writing poems, short stories, and ad scripts at the age of 12 — not for fame, not for school competitions, but simply because it made him feel alive. While most kids scribbled notes in class, Harshit was busy typing out emotions, heartbreaks, and midnight thoughts no one else ever dared to say out loud.
In junior college, he took science — not because he loved physics, but because he was a curious kid with a thousand questions. But somewhere between chemical equations and late-night cram sessions, Harshit realized science wasn’t the answer he was looking for.
(He jokes he started writing sad stories because science made him one.)
Somehow — and he still doesn’t know how — he passed his 12th board exams, and instead of walking a path laid out for him, he finally chose to build his own. That path led him to Entrepreneurship, and while diving headfirst into the startup world, he never stopped doing what he loved most: writing.
“A Cigarette With Dad” is Harshit’s first book, but it feels like his soul poured out on paper. A fictional story built on real emotions, life lessons, and the unshakable bond between a father and son. Many of the lessons Arjun learns in the book are reflections of what Harshit has learned from his own father — his hero — and from the stories, mentors, and series that shaped his view of the world.
He wrote this book not to impress, but to express.
Not to preach, but to connect.
Not to sound wise, but to remind you that the real wisdom lies in small, unfiltered conversations we often take for granted.
When he’s not writing or building his dream startup, you’ll find him thinking deeply, feeling too much, and trying to change the world — one emotional chapter at a time.
