Robin’s father, Barin Sanyal, a Professor of English married again and his new wife started maltreating Robin. The boy's uncle, Shantanu Sanyal rescued the boy and adopted him as his son. Shantanu Sanyal is a publisher. His friend Arunavo Banerjee, is a professor teaching history at Osmania University. Arunavo’s friend is Sanjay Banerji, a tea garden owner. These three friends along with their wives and kids travel to different places in Jharkhand including the DVC dams and hill stations in North Bengal around Darjeeling. During such journeys, they tell each other small stories. Arunavo had lectured on parts of Bengal history. The book has pathos but in the midst of tears, smiles sparkle like little waves in a big lake shining in the moonlight.
Atanu Banerji
The author is Atanu Banerji, who returned from the Post of Joint Secretary to the government of India. He served for 33 years in various ministries of Central Government such as the Department of Posts, Ministry of HRD, Ministry of Coal, Ministry of home affairs, National Commission for Minorities. On official business and training, he had travelled to Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, Norway, Canada and USA. Before joining Central Government, he served the Government of West Bengal as a Commercial Tax Officer (On Probation) and Accountant General, West Bengal. He started his career as a school teacher.
He has already written a book, ‘Dance of Shiva’ published by Asian Press, Kolkata.
‘A Slice of Heaven’, is his second book.
