What is a mandala?
Mandala is originally from India and means circle or that which surrounds the center. Visually it is an assemblage of geometric shapes representing the features of the universe and has been used for ages as a focus for meditation.
Mandalas help stimulate imagination, and creativity and help children learn the colors and combine them. All this is beyond being relaxing and fun. Little ones can color it however they want and, although it may seem like you don't understand much of that drawing, it's an activity with real benefits.
This combination of animal and mandala is even more interesting because it draws the child into a challenge: what animal is in the picture?
Here are some of the benefits of this wonderful book and the reasons why it deserves a place in the library for the little ones:
-develops attention and concentration
-stimulates the child's creativity and imagination
-reduces stress levels because, yes, children can be stressed too; the effect is even more beneficial if they listen to relaxing music while coloring.
-teaches the value of persistence; studies show that children who spend a lot of time coloring have a greater ability to concentrate than those who don't
