The theory of formal languages constitutes a stem of the field of theoretical computer science. The language theory tools such as finite automata and regular expressions are used in the design and construction of important kinds of software. The theory of automata is the study of abstract computing devices that had all the capabilities of today’s computers, at least as far as what they compute. The simplest and most fundamental computing models with applications in pattern matching, lexical analysis, communication protocols, hardware circuit minimization and XML processing is the finite state automata. The finite state automata are also used to recognize languages, called regular languages.
Dr. O V Shanmuga Sundaram
Dr. O.V.Shanmuga Sundaram is native of Erode district in weaver’s family, born to Mr.P.Vaiyapuri and Mrs.R.Lingammal in 1966. Dr. O.V.Shanmuga Sundaram completed his school education in his native and took his Graduation in Mathematics in 1987 from Erode Arts College, Erode. He completed PG in 1989 from Govt. Arts College, Coimbatore, pursued and successfully completed M.Phil (Mathematics) in 2003 from Alagappa University, Karaikudi and PhD in Mathematics in 2017 from Govt. Arts College, Coimbatore. He has also successfully obtained his PGDCA from Gobi Arts College, Gobichettipalayam in the year 1991 and B.Ed (Mathematics) from Annamalai University, Chidambaram in the year 1999 and M.Phil (Computer Science) from Erode Arts College, Erode in the year 2000. Also he completed 7 NPTEL Courses.
Dr. O.V.Shanmuga Sundaram has published 9 research articles in national and international peer reviewed journals. He has attended and presented papers in 21 conferences / seminars. He is guiding 4 Ph.D Research Scholars under his guidance. He conducted 3 Ph.D viva voce examination externally and 2 theses evaluated.
Dr. O.V.Shanmuga Sundaram has served in different academic and administrative positions like Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Head in Mathematics Department. He is now serving as Associate Professor and Head of Post Graduate Department of Mathematics at Sree Saraswathi Thyagaraja College (Autonomous), Pollachi - 642107. He is well known in the academic circles in western parts of the Tamilnadu state for his dynamic leadership and progressive thoughts and plans that has totally changed the teaching-learning process in the college campuses where he worked / is working now.
