Book 1 of ‘The Century of India’ Trilogy

"Class of 2000" is a gripping saga of redemption and triumph, tracing the phoenix-like rise of the Indian cricket team from the ashes of the 2000 match-fixing scandal to the crowning glory of the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in 2007.

Join Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid as they steer a resilient squad through epic highs and devastating lows. Relive iconic moments like the 2001 victory against Australia, the historic NatWest Trophy win, and the near-miss at the 2003 World Cup. Witness the peak of the Ganguly-Wright partnership on the triumphant 2004 Pakistan tour and the chaos of the Chappell saga.

Experience the heartbreak of the 2007 World Cup exit and the resurgence under a determined Dravid. Finally, marvel at Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s meteoric rise as he leads a team of underdogs to an astounding victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Featuring legends like Tendulkar, Kumble, Laxman, Harbhajan and Sehwag, alongside future icons like Yuvraj, Dhoni, Zaheer, Irfan and even a memorable cameo by The Hitman Rohit Sharma, Class of 2000 is more than just a recounting of matches. It’s a powerful narrative of grit, triumph, and the indomitable spirit that forged a legacy. Dive into the heartbeat of a nation’s cricketing brilliance with Class of 2000.

Sudeept

Sudeept Shrivastav, 42, bears the mantle of a reluctant software engineer but sees himself primarily as a storyteller. Based out of Pune, he revels in the freedom of a happily unmarried life and finds joy in cricket, writing, and motorcycling. His true calling in life has always been that of a Seeker, finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, often on his motorcycle.

Beyond writing, cricket, and riding, Sudeept is also deeply passionate about social causes. He goes by just his first name, a quite protest against the casteism. He also organized a free ration and meals drive during the first lockdown, with the help of crowdfunding, to support migrant laborers. Additionally, he is a registered eye and organ donor—few gestures that quietly enrich his life and reflect his values.

Sudeept aspires to take up writing full-time. His debut book beautifully intertwines his passion for cricket with his gift for narrative.
