Cruising with Packky

Author Name: Shrinivas, Mugdha | Format: Hardcover | Genre : Travel | Other Details

GOD was quietly giggling to Himself the day he wedded/welded us in holy matrimony in the presence of 500 witnesses. Packky, a convent-educated voracious reader from Goa, and me, a simple Mumbai boy educated in vernacular Marathi from a Girgaum chawl! She was fired with a passion for travel, and I was never happy away from Aamchi Mumbai! And, that, led very obviously, to epic battles and adventures and travels until, at last, we found ourselves one day cruising around Ireland! This is a peep into how we travel and pack and fight and cruise through our life together. Not merely a description of cities and sights; it’s a humorous take on the struggles and conveniences of the modern Indian traveller, an amusing point of view on the lengths people go to,to click photographs and funny conversations with total strangers in odd places. Every turn on the road has us laughing ourselves silly or fighting tooth and nail... In short, it’s as much a cruise through our minds and lives as it is around Ireland.

Shrinivas, Mugdha

Dr. Shrinivas Ranade has worn various hats throughout his long career. Starting out as a family practitioner, he went on to become an ‘Industrial Health & Hygiene’ specialist and headed healthcare for Mahindra & Mahindra ltd., as their Chief Medical Officer, over the last eleven years. Crucially, he oversaw their entire healthcare, during the COVID pandemic, which made for challenging work. Through it all, he has written short articles on various topics, including medicine. He has a humorous take on everything around him, especially his wife – Packky.

Dr. Mugdha Ranade is an eye surgeon practising at her own nursing home in Mumbai. She has a passion for travelling that earned her the soubriquet “Packky” from her husband. She has combined her love for her profession, with as much extensive travel as possible. The English language, in all its various acrobatics and semantics, is a passion for her, and she has helped shape this book in more ways than obvious, not the least, by allowing her husband’s unbridled sense of humour.
