The present book “MATRIX ALGEBRA: A COURSE FOR ENGINEERS” has been written to develop foundation knowledge for the readers to understand basics of matrices. The subject matter has been discussed in such a simple and systematic way that the readers will find no difficulty to understand it.
The present book is organized into ten chapters and contains wide range of topics beginning from the matrix algebra, determinant and inverse of a square matrix, some special matrices and elementary operations. The notions of rank of a matrix as well as linear dependence and independence of vectors have been elaborated because of their important applications in mathematics. Theory of solution of system of linear equations, eigen values and eigen vectors of a matrix have been discussed with plenty of solved problems. Algebraic and geometric multiplicities of an eigen value of a square matrix, Cayley-Hamilton theorem as well as diagonalization of a matrix have also been discussed which play the pivotal role in many branches of engineering from the application point of view.
In the end of each chapter a set of unsolved problems as an exercise to the students has been incorporated. This book also contains 100 multiple choice questions. We hope that this book will meet the requirement and the expectations of the engineers.

He has also qualified CSIR NET examination (June-2010, June-2012, June-2013, June-2014 and June-2015) in Mathematical Sciences. He is working as an Assistant Professor in National Post Graduate College Barhalganj, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is equipped with an extraordinary caliber and appreciable academic potency. His fields of interest include Integral Transform Methods, Differential and Partial Differential Equations, Integral Equations, Vibration of Plates, Theory of Elasticity and Number Theory. He has published 115 research papers in national and international journals.
Mr. Anant Prakash Agrawal is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has obtained his M.Tech. degree from Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India in 2012. His research areas are modeling of crack growth rate and life prediction of composite materials, FEM, fracture mechanics, and continued working in the area of Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing. He has published several papers in international/national journals and refereed conferences.
