Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh Pal “Spiritual growth is a deliberate movement from the rational mind to the heart, which recognizes interdependence and universal love as the precondition for the experiential knowledge of Atman as Brahman.”
– Swami Satchidananda
In Reflections, Swami Satchidananda gives us practical guidance and pointers for good living based on the wisdom in the Vedas.
We live in difficult and challenging times. Violence, both external and internal, along with the consumerist model of societies, have resulted in deep moral decline among humanity. Thus, having a sense of personal well-being and peace within often escapes us.
Reflections addresses issues all of us need to resolve in order to find peace of mind and be happy. Also, it introduces you to the truths and practices of Vedanta, meditation and yoga, which free you from the illusion that you are a mortal body and mind and reveal the glory of the Divine within you.
Swami Satchidananda Saraswati
Although he had important, managerial positions working in the corporate world and what most of us would regard as a good life, the author felt unfulfilled. He entered the path of monkhood, taking the name Swami Satchidananda Saraswati, and pursued deep learning and exploration of Vedanta while living as a renunciate in poverty and seclusion. Today he is a respected Acharya (spiritual preceptor), and his strength and wisdom arise from his experience of both worlds.
After he left his family and career to become a Swami, he went to the Divine Life Society ashram set up by Swami Shivananda, which he had first heard about from his mother. He meditated there seeking guidance and help for his spiritual path from Swami Shivananda. One night he got the guidance he wanted: where to go, whom to meet, what to say, and what to do in terms of his own sadhana.
Swamiji said that when he decided to take the path of renunciation, the next events in his life came about as a result. Many coincidences happened without him willing it, and he came to realize how the guru works for you to make this happen.
In 2019, Swami Satchidananda founded the Shivananda Sadhana Kutir Trust to establish the kutir and a Veda Patashala (traditional school) in the heritage town of Mahabalipuram for transferring Vedic teachings to future generations. Its activities will include education in Vedanta, yoga therapy and Ayurveda.
Today he is a respected Acharya (spiritual preceptor), and his strength and wisdom arise from his experience of family, business life and the inner life of spiritual realization.
