Guru
Author Guruprasad Shetty, fondly known as Guru has been exposed to stress for more than 35 years. He was a senior manager in some top companies in India and later became an entrepreneur with a venture in specialized printing, garment manufacturing, retail trade and hospitality.
After suffering a massive setback in one of his large ventures he experienced chronic anxiety and stress that was creating a serious imbalance in his health. The traditional practice of dealing with stress was not helping him as effects were transitory and he again got stressed when the thoughts came back. There was a need for more permanent solutions.
He became interested in the theory and practice of positive psychology. The popularity of this practice in many reputed, pragmatic organizations in the world inspired him to do detailed study, analysis and experimentation. Many of the practice he developed gave him more lasting benefits and he shared his practice with many of his close associates who also found them very helpful. His message is ‘Stress is bad habit. Control bad habit. Cultivate good habit.’ Be sensible, rational and intelligent. Be SRI.
The covid-19 pandemic was putting a lot of pressure on many people. Fear, anxiety, stress and depression were increasing in a big way, there was a need to reach out to many people, which is how he decided to write a book that could explain stress in a very simplified way, suggest some process and practice that could defuse, reduce stress, fear and anxiety, make a person calmer, and increase happiness.
He was teaching people to follow positive psychology to deal with negative situations and therefore got the nickname Guru which means teacher.
