George Kurian was born in the village, Anaprampal in the district of Alleppey, Kerala. After secondary education he had migrated to Madhya Pradesh and joined the Bhilai Steel Plant. He worked there for 20 years, and then as a journalist for the next 20 years in news papers, before retiring to a village named Urla, Durg in the state of Chhattisgarh.
