Sharat Kumar, an academic luminary, holds an M.A. from JNU, New Delhi, and a Ph.D. from A.N. Sinha Institute, Patna. Amidst his M.A., he embraced the JP movement and faced arrest during the 1975-77 Emergency. Transitioning from lecturer at Patna University to Indian Economic Service officer, he excelled. His IES tenure encompassed vital roles in the Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, and beyond. As Reader-in-Economics at LBS National Academy of Administration, Mussourie, his expertise resonated.

Instrumental in Afghanistan's development project, Sharat represented India at the United Nations Commission for Social Development.
