Dr. (Mrs.) V. Girija Sastry is a distinguished Professor at A.U. College of Pharmaceutical Sciences with over three decades of academic and research experience. She holds an M.Pharm and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Andhra University. Her expertise lies in the extraction, isolation, and chemical study of bioactive metabolites from marine and plant sources, the synthesis and evaluation of bioactive heterocyclic compounds, and the development of analytical profiles for drugs using advanced chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. She has mentored 28 Ph.D. scholars and guided 58 M.Pharm dissertations. Dr. Sastry has led multiple research projects funded by prestigious agencies, including the Ministry of Earth Sciences and RUSA, focusing on novel drug discovery and nutraceutical development. Her academic contributions include 106 research publications, three books, and six patents. She has received numerous accolades, including the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Award for Best Academician of the Year 2023. A key figure in pharmaceutical education, she serves as a faculty chairperson, an inspector for pharmacy colleges, an adjudicator of Ph.D. theses, and an examiner for multiple universities. She is also a life member of professional bodies like APTI, IPA, and IPGA.
