Dr. Suman Kumar Kasturi
Dr Suman Kumar Kasturi (suman@sumankasturi.com) holds a PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication from Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU). He is the first recipient of a PhD in JMC from ANU. Academics is his passion — his first love. Dr Kasturi’s mission in life is not merely to survive, but to flourish; and to do so with some zeal and style, he has been dedicating his personal and leisure time to academic research and teaching. He is a multifaceted mass communicator. He has served previously as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer with Indian Air Force for nearly two decades, and thereafter, he took up the responsibilities as a Senior Sub-Editor for the Hans India News Daily, being published from various locations in India including the national capital, New Delhi. Dr Suman Kumar Kasturi has previously authored eleven books. Additionally, he has also contributed chapters for several edited books. He has been one of the study material writers for Dr BR Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad (BRAOU) and GITAM University, Visakhapatnam. He has been a regular columnist for the Hans India newspaper. Apart from publishing a few op-ed articles in the leading news dailies, he has also published numerous research articles and book reviews in journals of national and international repute. He is a life member of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) in its Hyderabad Chapter. He is one of the editorial board members of the International Journal of Social Media and Online Communities (IJSMOC by IGI Global, US). He has been serving as a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Social Science Studies (RedFame Publishing, US), Journal of Media Innovations (University of Oslo, Norway), and the journal IIM Kozhikode Society and Management Review, published by SAGE. He has been categorised as a platinum level expert author by Ezine Articles. His research interests include New Information and Media Technologies, Social Media, Public Relations, Development Communication, International Communication, Media and Mediated Communication, Environmental Communication, Indian Traditional Media, and Communication for Social Change.
