The Knife

by Neha Kerketta

The shining beautiful sharp blade attracting towards itself. Can something this dangerous be so amazingly enticing? Is the idea of a certain thing being "dangerously beautiful" so true and genuine - that it could be felt so strongly? Is it the circumstances or the idea "dangerously beautiful" so attractive in itself? Love is beautiful. Can this too be beautiful?

Isn't the idea of being free of this mortality so strong that the song "Teri Deewani" screenplays the whole idea in a beautiful way? An old movie too pictured "the act" in an amazing way - but the source were the sleeping pills. But today the knife is more tempting.

But why is just the knife a beautiful source of "the act" than anything else? Is it the red blood oozing out of the wrist or is it the flow of it? Would the blood stop flowing out the first or would the eyes get closed?

How can one waste one's blood to write a letter - sometimes I think..! Wouldn't just the view of the red color tempt to just let it flow?

Does anybody think of the aftereffects of "the act"? I think the lecture on Existentialism answered my question really well - sometimes few things are just beyond one's tolerance that it just triggers the past accumulated issues to this beautiful act.

Knife is lying at the front-table. The shining blade is attracting towards itself. Would it be tempting enough to lead to an "act" or would the fear of "death" overcome again?
