Completing his graduation in Agricultural Science and a Diploma in Horticulture, he served in Government Agriculture Department for about 19 years. Dr. P.K. Aiyasamy was born in 1928 in a Village near Coimbatore, India. Completing his graduation in Agricultural Science and a Diploma in Horticulture, he served in Government Agriculture Department for about 19 years. His academic interest culminated in obtaining Master of Science in Agricultural Economics in 1965.
Under a Ford Foundation grant, he was deputed to Minnesota University (USA) for advanced training and was fortunate to obtain Master Degree in Public Administration. On return, he served as a Faculty in Agricultural Economics, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. He completed Doctorate in Agricultural Economics (Ph.D) in 1978. He also served as a visiting Professor in the University of Minnesota and Cornell University. The author was in International Food Policy Research Institute, Washington, USA and wrote a chapter in the book entitled “Green Revolution Revisited” based on a field research in which he was the team leader.
After retirement in 1986, he served as a consultant to Swedish International Developmental Agency (SIDA); Ford Foundation; ILO, Government of India. He has visited USA, Japan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom and Sweden for attending seminars, presenting research studies and the like. He has to his credit 8 books, and research papers.
His orientation with Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya ideals culminated in offering free services in imparting skills and knowledge in Yoga–Asanas, Pranayama, and Meditation. YOGA training courses were to a wide assortment of people numbering over 12000. Now on his completing his 90 years of age, has endeavoured to write a book on Yoga – “Science of Yoga – A Comprehensive Approach”.
