Muchukota Venkataramaiah can be described as personification of definition of “volunteer” by Mahatma Gandhi. Sri.Muchukota Venkataramaiah (1894-1972) was a multifaceted personality-a nationalist, founder of Andhra Granthalayam, Scout and Drawing Master, a Telugu Pandit,a mellifluous singer and a true Gandhi an-all rolled into one. Sri.Venkataramaiah refused to accept the financial grant offered by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and ran it as a private library till his death.
