Pannir Santiago

Rose Waters St. James is the nom de plume of Pannir Santiago. It is a direct translation of the Tamil / Spanish original. He is a 3rd generation Malaysian. His grandfather was a kangaani (“overseer”) in the British owned Glenmarie rubber estate in Selangor, in the 1940s British Malaya. He had earlier recruited workers from his village in India under the indenture system. At 70 years now, Pannir considers his life as one of drift rather than drive.
