Pannir Santiago

Rose Waters St. James is the nom de plume of Pannir Santiago. It is a direct translation of the Tamil / Spanish original. He is a 3rd generation Malaysian. His grandfather was a kangaani (“overseer”) in the British owned Glenmarie rubber estate in Selangor, in the 1940s British Malaya. He had earlier recruited workers from his village in India under the indenture system.
At 70 years now, Pannir considers his life as one of drift rather than drive. In other words, an easy going one with scant concern for worldly notions of success or fame. Though he has wanted to write that single great historical novel, he has yet to find that ignition, combustion and motion. Otherwise, he thinks he can converse with any class of person on any subject, complex or simplex.
Like a pelican waiting for fish, he passes time scouring the internet – YouTube, Google etc. Any information on current affairs, health, cinema, religion, science, politics etc, is game. These become grist / gist for any conversation that presents itself.
