Ranu Tomar is an assistant professor who has worked with the Faculty of Journalism and Creative Studies, Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. She has done her Ph.D. from the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She earned her M.Phil. from the Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She obtained her M.A. in Mass Communication from Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. She has done her Bachelor of Arts from Sarojini Naidu Government Girls Post Graduate College, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. 
 
She worked as a journalist with The Hitavada, an English daily in Central India. Her academic research work and interests cover Gender, Media, Communication, and Feminist Research Methodology. She has also worked with a Mumbai-based NGO, Point of View, as a project coordinator for the Internet Literacy Training Program for a women-run weekly newspaper, Kabhar Lahariya.
