Ratna Rao Shekar is a well-known writer, art curator and editor based in Hyderabad. 
Currently, Ratna edits a city magazine that she set up 21 years ago; and a newsletter for cancer survivors, published by an oncologist. She is also the Founder-Editor of Housecalls, a magazine for doctors that had an international readership, which she steered for 15 years.
During her long and impressive career as a writer with protean interests, she edited a travelogue, A Journey without a Map; and a coffee table book on the history of Hyderabad called The Power of Glory. She is passionate about the city; vignettes of which are depicted in the book in great detail. 
 As an author, her published works include a seminal book on the artist, Laxma Goud, titled Laxma Goud in Black and White. Her first work of fiction is The Purple Lotus and Other Stories, a collection of 13 short stories. Listen to the House is her first full-length novel. Ratna is a handloom aficionado and is closely involved with the art and cultural scene of Hyderabad.
