Roxana Kalyanvala is a social worker and counsellor. Roxana Kalyanvala is a social worker and counsellor. She joined Bharatiya Samaj Seva Kendra (BSSK is a charitable trust working holistically with babies, young children and their families for over four decades) in 1983 as a social worker upon completing her Masters in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Having worked in the field of adoption for over 36 years, she has administered and counselled persons coming forward for adoption and interacted with several adoptees. In 2000, she took over as the executive director of BSSK and oversaw the adoption programme among other responsibilities at the NGO.
Roxana served as a committee member of the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) and has also lent her expertise in preparing training modules on adoption-related aspects. She has written several papers and has been invited at various national and international forums to present papers pertaining to child care and adoption.
Along with her team members, Roxana has conducted research studies on domestic and international adoptions. Her writings on adoption have appeared in various journals. She believes that it is a beautiful thing when one's career and passion come together.
