Dr. Sudhakar Joshi was born in a village named Beed in erstwhile Marathwada, now Maharashtra State, in a modest middle class Brahmin family on 28 February, 1947. Facing all the hardships that could come in the life of an ambitious young man, with very scarce financial resources and limited opportunities, he completed his Medical Education from Aurangabad and later on went to Mumbai.
In Mumbai Medical World, where outside Doctors have hardly any chance to step in, under the able guidance of eminent teachers in the then Medical field, like Professor Emeritus in Pediatrics, Dr. S.M. Merchant, Professor Emeritus in Pediatrics, Dr. P.M. Udani, in most reputed Medical Institutions in Mumbai, like the J. J. Hospital, the Sion Hospital, Nair Hospital, KEM Hospital, he himself turned out to be an eminent Child Specialist of Mumbai and practiced Pediatrics in Mumbai for over 40 years and is still continuing practice. On his own ability, with wife Dr. Sarojini, who is an eminent Gynaecologist herself, Dr. Sudhakar Joshi has done what not many eminent Doctors in Mumbai could even think of doing… he has established his own not one but two “Maternity and Children’s Hospitals” in Mumbai and run them with high success and reputation, for over the past 40 years.
During his more than 75 years walk of his life, and still continuing, Dr. Sudhakar Joshi has lived through many a threat to his life, starting from fading chance of his own survival as a new-born baby, then having suffered from the then dreadful ailment Diphtheria during his youthful days in early Medical College life, during the 92-93 Mumbai riots, while trying save his patients’ lives and earned the faith of thousands of his patients, during his ‘open heart surgery’ in Mumbai in 93-94 due to heart ailment.
He has lived through all the colours of life that destiny bestowed upon him. Today he is living a healthy, happy and fully satisfied life of a 75 years old senior citizen Doctor, with his Doctor wife, sons, and daughters in law and grandchildren in his own house in Mumbai.
What Dr. Sudhakar Joshi is presenting here is not a mere chronological documentation of a Doctor's life, but a true story of a young, courageous & determined Doctor couple... in their 30's dare dream the near impossible... walk the thorny path of life... caught in the 92-93's Mumbai riots... dare challenge death to save their patients’ lives... now in their 70's... look back over their shoulders to see that their dream has came true...
