Y. Ganesan hails from a middle-class family of Trichy. He was born in 1938. He completed his BE Degree in Civil Engineering from Madras University, graduating in first class with Honours. Following the UPSC Competitive Examination in 1962 and securing a high rank, he entered the Indian Railway Service of Engineers in 1963. His service spanned for 33 years. Y. Ganesan hails from a middle-class family of Trichy. He was born in 1938. He completed his BE Degree in Civil Engineering from Madras University, graduating in first class with Honours. Following the UPSC Competitive Examination in 1962 and securing a high rank, he entered the Indian Railway Service of Engineers in 1963. His service spanned for 33 years. During this period, he also had stints abroad. He eventually retired in 1996 as Commissioner of Railway Safety.
Though qualification-wise he is a Civil Engineer, as a student in his younger days, Sanskrit was one of his subjects. Following his retirement, he happened to read Deivathin Kural, a well- renowned work of Kanchi Sankarachariar. This greatly inspired him to develop a deep interest in Vedas, their components and Ithihasas. In Chennai, he was well associated with institutions conducting Veda classes giving lectures in Vedas and spiritual matters.
He was fascinated by Bhashyams in Vedas by Sayanacharya, in Ekagni Kanda by Vedic scholars of Tirupathi. He also immensely liked the book Ekagni Kanda by Sh. R.Sridharan.
His present book is a product of his studies of them, duly receiving help from them.
