Born and brought up in Delhi in a middle-class family, Dr. Anoop Bhalla did his post-graduation in Endocrinology and his MPhil in Avian Reproduction from Delhi University before joining Indian Forest Service in 1980.

Besides being a forester, he is a true sportsman and loves music and travelling.
Post superannuation, Dr. Bhalla has been spearheading his own Abhinav Charitable Foundation in Chattisgarh, working for the socio-economic upliftment of tribals and providing financial help and opportunities for a number of deprived children as well as physically challenged rural kids.
Dr. Bhalla turned film producer in the year 2018 by producing a documentary film named Van Yodha as a tribute to the contributions and sacrifice of the Uniformed Forest Staff of the country.
