An ex-soldier of the Indian Air Force, a participant in the 1962 China War, 1965 Pakistan War and 1971 Bangladesh War, retiring in 1975. He joined the central government service, rose to the peak of his career and eventually qualifying for the President’s award (though could not make it through the final selection process) and retired again in 2001.
