The book has been organized loosely into eight chapters to represent an Octave and therefore to signify the interconnectedness of music and life. An octave in music terminology represents the interval between one musical pitch and another with double or half its frequency. Similarly, this book has been arranged with some overlap between the chapters to weave in a continuity. Just as how the music is not in the notes but in the spaces between them, our life also resides in the spaces between our thoughts.
This is a sincere attempt to poetically point to the depths of life… be it the ‘Paradise’, the ‘Heaven’, ‘Love’ or ‘Liberation’, how each one is just a ‘Click away’. The poems explore the different dimensions of love, friendship and spirituality and how our thoughts, words and feelings make our journey uniquely us. Each of the poems is meant to have the reader pause and ponder over the depths of the knowns to unravel the unknowns.
‘Grok Your life’ is an anthology of poems that took me to the essence of who I am. Written during moments of contemplation and reflection this book attempts to take the reader through a journey of self-discovery and understanding.

The dictionary meaning of ‘Grok’ is to understand profoundly by intuition. But how do we do that? When we are thrown into a situation, we have thoughts about the facts of the situation. These facts may appear very real to the mind, and it triggers feelings. We tend to believe all that our mind tells us, and this leads to us to taking actions based on these feelings. The more we ruminate on these thoughts the more intense are the feelings and hence shape the way we act on them. The way we act can impact the situations either positively or negatively which in turn feeds more thoughts and this vicious cycle of thoughts – feelings – action continues.
Poetry being the most intuitive form of written expression, I decided to pen the intuition behind my thoughts, feelings and emotions in the form of poetry. This book, written in freestyle, is a sincere attempt to express my humble views and reflections on what I have learnt and continue to learn about what it takes to grow beyond my limited identity while still living a normal worldly life and how to break free of this cycle.
Our mind is a repository of experiences, good and bad, happy and sad, simple and complicated. Oftentimes, we troubleshoot life as though there are problems to be solved rather than understanding the underlying mystery. ‘git the Gita’ is a novelette that portrays the life of a software professional, Sid and his family who constantly try to struggle through the problems of day-to-day living. Oftentimes, we troubleshoot life as though there are problems to be solved rather than understanding the underlying mystery. ‘git the Gita’ is a novelette that portrays the life of a software professional, Sid and his family who constantly try to struggle through the problems of day-to-day living. Looking through the broader lens of the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, this book attempts to give these problems a different perspective that resonates with the core of our self.
This will be a great read for someone who wants to immerse in self-reflection and ponder about what resides within.
River meets the Ocean is a collection of short musings that I wrote as notes to myself during the Covid pandemic. As I was struggling to come to terms with the new normal, and every aspect of life was disrupted, these contemplative moments that I spent writing empowered me to swim through this period with more clarity and contentment.

A drop of water has its unique identity until it reaches the ocean. Once it reaches the ocean, its individuality dissolves and it takes a mightier form. The water all along had all the properties of the ocean but it did not know the full potential until it merges with the ocean. Likewise, humans too think of our limited existence as our true identity and mistakenly cage our limitless potential to thrive and flourish.
This book has been written in free style in the form of short poems. It will be a good read for someone with a contemplative mindset who would like to ponder over deeper questions about life.
As the river meanders to the source
gushing and rushing with the flow
stumbling and changing its course
in the confluence of
the real and the unreal
the seeker and the sought
the knower and the known
It gets to realise
the Ocean in a droplet
the Cosmos within it.

Many times, the cause of our problems, is not the problem per se, but the person having the problem. So long as the mind believes the problem exists, everything around the problem starts to magnify and compound. But when the mind understands its true nature, we often realise there is no underlying problem as such. And all that remains is bliss!
