Kumar Mihirendra Pratap Singh Deo hails from the erstwhile Royal Family of N?ga Dynasty of Madapur-Rampur in the district of Kalahandi, Odisha. Due to lack of historical facts, evidence and proper interpretations, there are confusions and contradictions in the history of Odisha, which impelled the author to write history. To his credit, many research papers have been published by the author in state, national and international journals like Orissa Review, Journal of Orissan History, Proceedings of the Orissa History Congress, Souvenirs of the State and National, Puratattva and Journal of Bengal Art, which was published by the International Centre for Study of Bengal Art (ICSBA) Dhaka, Bangladesh. His Talks on Archaeology has been broadcasted by All India Radio.
He is the Founder and the President of Indian Cultural Heritage Society (ICHS) and he is a Life Member of Odisha History Congress and INTACH. The author has organized the Archaeological Photograph Exhibition in different colleges to create awareness in archaeology and the history of K?runda. He has presented many research papers on history and archaeology in State and National Conferences. He was involved in the excavation of Budhigarh of Madanpur, Kalahandi, Odisha, as a collaborator, which has been reflected in his work K?runda The Vanished Empire.

The ultimate Shape of the Lord Jagannath has been proved archaeologically in ‘The Shape of the Brahman’. ‘The Vanished Yonī Rituals’ is a study on ethno-archaeology. ‘The Riverine and Maritime Trade of Madanpur – its Relation with Kalinga and South-East Asia’ reflects a new hypothesis and archaeologically proves that the hinterland of Kalinga had a riverine and maritime trade relation with South-East Asia. ‘The Sword of Asurgarh’ is a comparative study with the fort of Qatna near Babylon.
The book attempts to decipher the mysterious rituals of the Sixty-Four Yoginī Cult and it concludes with the secret rituals of the Stonehenge in UK. The cultural heritage of Kārunda reflects the existence of Buddhism and the influence of Tantric Rituals.
