Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalI did not plan to write this book. In fact, for a long time, I resisted the thought of putting these words on paper. The incident that forms the foundation of this book was not my personal tragedy, nor did it involve someone from my immediate family. Yet, it affected me deeply—more deeply than I initially understood.
What disturbed me was not only the loss of a life, but the circumstances surrounding that loss.
A human being lost his life in a situation that should have been survivable. That truth stayed with me. It stayed with me not as anger, but as a quiet, persistent pain. When basic safety measures fail—when avoidable risks are allowed to exist, and when systems struggle to respond—it raises questions that cannot be ignored by anyone who cares about society.
I have worked within systems. I have observed governance, engineering, communication, image building, management and public response closely. I understand that institutions operate under constraints and that individuals often do their best within limited frameworks. This book is therefore not written from a place of accusation.
It is written from a place of concern and conscience.

Awadhesh Singh
I have completed my 37 years of service in important departments of the Ministry of Communications and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. After retiring at the age of 60, I am now into full-time writing since 2019. As an engineer, I worked diligently for many years in estimating and project planning. Back in 1995, the Department of Telecommunications was working tirelessly to achieve rapid development in both rural and urban areas. At that time my post was Junior Telecom Officer Planning. During this time, the entire cost of the new telephone exchange, its revenue, funds, equipment, building safety, and staff resources all had to be considered. This was my experience. Similarly, as a government media officer, my job was to plan and execute media drives. During that time, in the area I was in charge of, it was also my job to keep an eye on irregularities in the government institutions there.
