Mr. Jayanti M Dalal, B.Sc (Hons.), is a business man and a prolific writer of Gujarati novels and
Gujarati short stories. writer born in Kapadwanj, Gujarat on 28 th December 1935. He has to his credit
22 books including 14 Novels, 3 short story collections and 5 poetry anthologies. He has been an
honorary editor of Acrylic News (1996), Porwad Bandhu (a quarterly Gujarati community magazine,
1980-2001) and Kala Gurjari (a Gujarati quarterly magazine of Art, 1993-96 and 1999-2001). He was
the pioneer who introduced acrylic furniture in India.

Recently, in the fourth Conference of Bruhad Gujarati Samaj, the native of Umreth, the
novelist, the story writer - Jayanti M. Dalal received Girnar Award (Sahitya Ratna Award)
in Yogi Auditorium.
Since last two decades, Jayanti M. Dalal has a dream of spreading Gujarati Literature at
world level. On his two books ‘Bleeding Heights of Kargil’ and ‘Spatial Echoes’, Mrs
Jayshreeben Palit has written a nine page article which has been published in ‘World English
Literature, Bridging Oneness’. She wrote ‘Understanding Terrorism, Can popular
fiction address serious issues? A Study of Jayanti M. Dalal’s novels, Bleeding Heights of
Kargil and Spatial Echoes.’ In this book, Jayanti M. Dalal has been placed with world
famous writers. It shows that, Jayanti M. Dalal has notable contribution towards earning
‘pride’for our mother tongue Gujarati and we, Gujaratis at world level.
In the year 2005, for the first time; the Author’s translated book ‘Ordeal of Innocence’ got
published by Ivy House Publishing Group, NC, Raleigh, USA and second edition got
published in the year 2008 by Cyberwitnet, Allahabad. ‘Bleeding Heights of Kargil’
(Kargilna Morche-3 rd edition)got published in the year 2012 by Cyberwitnet, Allahabad. The
other three novels of the Author got published as a serial in foreign weekly Newspapers
during 2008-2009. ‘Jackpot’ in Gujarat Times which was published from New Jersey,
‘Mrugalna Dhodh’ in Vatan News, Canada, ‘Aankhne Sagapan Ansoona’ in Gujarat
Express, Canada. His short story ‘ Antim Vidayvelaye’ has got selected in ‘Balbharati’, an
eighth standard book by Maharashtra Rajya Pathyapustak Ane Abhyaskram Sanshodhan
Mandal, Poona, since year 2009, i.e. last 7 years. His life story has been noted in more than 30
national and international encyclopedia like ‘Who’s who’.
A twenty minutes documentary film is made on his life and his writings ‘Saundaryano
Sakshatkar, Acrylicmao ane Sahitysarjanma’ which was shown on the occasion of
completing his 60 years and 75 years celebration called ‘Amrut Mahotsav’.In 1997,and 2013
In Mumbai’s Navin Thakkar Auditorium, his lifesketch was released in books ‘Bhavatavini
Vate’ and ‘Jindgino Dastavej’ respectively.
He remained editor of his cast’s Newsletter ‘Porwad Bandhu’ for 22 years and also had been
editor for 6 years for ‘Kala Gurjari’ and 1 year for ‘Acrylic News’. His thoughts on Acrylic
and Literature had been on air by All India Radio, Mumbai and telecast by Doordarshan
(TV), Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar.
He was praised in the year 2005 as ‘Gujaratnu Gaurav’ by the then Chief Minister of
Gujarat and now, Prime Minister Of, India - Shri Narendra Modi.
He was awarded by Ex vice-president Shri Venkatraman with ‘A.R. Bhat
Entrepreneurship Award’ for his expertise in Acrylic furniture at New Delhi. Also, The
Indian Government selected him as a one man ACRYLIC study team and sent him to
Europe,America and Canada for one and half month in 1985.
In 2004, he is appointed as an Indian ‘Life time Secretory General’ by United Cultural
Convention, America. This Institute is working to unite the world culture and to bring it
under one roof while working for humanity. He has published himself a full size ‘National
Acrylic Directory’ three times i.e. in 1994, 1997 and 2000 as a Chairman of Acrylic
Industry. Thus, he was a pioneer and high level role for the uplifting of Acrylic Industry. In
1988, the Ministry of Industry has published a Gadget – Introduction of Plastic Furniture
in the Country- along with the committee list of 14 members. He was one of the honorary
member in that committee. He contributed towards projecting Acrylic furniture along with
Moulded furniture and Fiberglass furniture. In 1984, He was elected as a vice President of
‘The All India Plastic Manufacturer’s Association’ – ‘AIPMA’ which is uniquely working
in plastic Industry and contributed towards its fast growth.
For the first time in India, the Author has established Acrylic Industry and shown that Industry
and Literature can work together. “Acrylic is my throbbing Heart and Literature is Oxygen for
me”.
