This is a study of two of his novels, Life and Times of Michael K and The Childhood of Jesus with a focus on how disability is represented and employed in the plots of the novels. The present analysis of disability attempts a closer reading of the lived experience of both visible and invisible disabilities in the characters in these two novels. Ato Quayson’s typology of disability representation which is based on his study of English literature is adopted to study the novels. The study also contributes to the central argument by demonstrating the ways in which disability, as it is a phenomenon at the social interactive level, is like a journey.
