Malnutrition remains the main problem of the country, while efforts are being made continuously by government and non-government institutions. Several measures have proved beneficial in different scenarios but there is a need to study the useful measures together and apply them to the affected population. This book is a compilation of measures being taken in the country to prevent and treat malnutrition, especially for children below five years of age.

The book has been edited by Dr. Indresh Kumar. He has M.Sc. and a Ph.D. degree in Nutrition Science and currently working as Programme Coordinator at the Regional Center of Excellence Nutrition Rehabilitation Resource and Training, Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The editor has completed three major projects while working in the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, during which the author got the opportunity to study the aspects affecting nutrition and health, especially in the rural setting. The editor has worked as a consultant in an international organization working on community nutrition. He is passionate about working to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable groups of communities.
