Laughter Brews Universi-Tea Tales From A Teetotaller's Bar

Author Name: Anirban Majumdar | Format: Paperback | Genre : Humor | Other Details

Life has a charming habit of turning ordinary days into unforgettable stories, especially when youth, friendship, and a little mischief walk hand in hand. This book is a humble attempt to relive moments that once made us laugh till our sides ached, taught lessons we didn’t know we were learning, and quietly shaped the person I became.

From the spirited corridors of Allahabad University, where debates were as intense as friendships, to the lush, unpredictable rhythm of life in the Tea Estates of Assam, Dooars, and Tripura, these pages carry memories brewed with humour, excitement, ghostly encounters, and the sweet chaos of lived experience. Some incidents will make you smile; some may surprise you, and a few might feel strangely familiar, as if they once happened to you too.

This is not a tale of greatness, but of moments, small, silly, daring, and deeply human. If, while reading, you find yourself laughing, reminiscing, or pausing to remember your own unforgettable days, then these stories will have found their true purpose.

Anirban Majumdar

Anirban, whose name means inextinguishable, was born in Allahabad to an army officer father and an educationist mother. His father fought in two wars for India, while his mother instilled enduring values of learning and character. Raised across multiple states, Anirban developed adaptability, resilience, and a broad cultural outlook.

Gifted with a sharp intellect, he showed an early flair for writing and contributed bold and thought-provoking pieces to newspapers and magazines. It was this very skill that caught the attention of Bubbles, who later became his life partner.

Sports has always been his first love. A dedicated wicketkeeper, he represented his school, college, and his Company and Club Cricket Teams for over 25 years. His sporting lineage is remarkable. One uncle played cricket for India, another captained the Indian football team, and a third represented Bengal in cricket. One uncle even achieved the rare feat of stumping Sir Donald Bradman in Australia.

Today, Anirban thrives in the tea plantations of North East India. A golfer and teetotaller with an enviable single-malt collection, and a legendary storyteller, his humour fills rooms with laughter. Encouraged by friends and family, he now pens his real-life stories with wit, warmth, and unmistakable honesty.
