Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh Pal‘New Directions in Indian English Fiction: From Post-Colonial Legacies to Contemporary Realities’ is a compelling collection of critical essays that maps the evolving landscape of Indian writing in English. Bringing together diverse scholarly perspectives, the volume engages with major authors such as Arundhati Roy, Amitav Ghosh, Rohinton Mistry, and Arvind Adiga, offering fresh interpretations of their works in relation to contemporary socio-cultural realities.
The essays explore a wide range of themes, including identity, caste and Dalit discourse, gender politics, trauma, memory, displacement, and resistance. The collection also highlights emerging areas such as digital humanities, children’s and young adult literature, ecological concerns, and the growing interface between literature and Artificial Intelligence. By addressing both canonical texts and new literary trends, the book reflects the dynamic and transformative nature of Indian English Literature.
Interdisciplinary in approach and global in outlook, this volume redefines the contours of literary studies in the Indian context. It serves as a valuable resource for students, researchers, and teachers, while also appealing to readers interested in understanding the richness and diversity of contemporary Indian English writing.
