Stories Beyond Borders -Maatrum- Teach For India

Author Name: The Hive | Format: Paperback | Genre : Letters & Essays | Other Details

What happens when children from two different countries—separated by miles, but connected by curiosity—

come together to create something meaningful? Stories Beyond Borders is our answer to that question.

This book is a celebration of a unique collaboration between The Hive, Dubai and Teach for India, Chennai.

It was a 10-week virtual story-writing mentorship program that connected children across borders, cultures, and life experiences.

We hope that as you read these stories, you’ll laugh, reflect, and feel a spark of something bigger than the words on these pages, a belief that every child, no matter where they come from, deserves to be heard, celebrated, and published.

The Hive

The Hive is the UAE’s largest and most trusted drama and public speaking school in Dubai for kids aged 5-18, with over 1000 students. We are affiliated with Trinity College of London.

The Hive is a space to explore and discover oneself through drama and creative expression. We teach kids how to verbalise, empathise, and appreciate stories.

We use drama to teach children how to overcome their fear of facing an audience and voicing their thoughts. Our programs are proven to impact reading skills, interpersonal skills, and verbal and non-verbal communication.

Stories Beyond Borders was conceived as an extension of the vision to take the spirit of storytelling beyond our walls and into communities that don’t always get the spotlight.

About Teach For India

Teach for India (TFI) is a leading nonprofit in India's education space with a bold vision that "One day all children will attain an excellent education."

Founded in 2008 by Shaheen Mistri, TFI is part of the global Teach for All network and aims to eliminate educational inequity in India. It operates in eight major Indian cities—Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

TFI recruits college graduates and professionals for a full-time, paid two-year teaching fellowship in low-income or government schools. Around 140,000 people have applied to the Fellowship, and 4,500+ have completed the two-year programme. The Fellows come from diverse backgrounds, streams and age groups spanning over 500 colleges, universities, and over 300 companies.

Students in TFI classrooms often show accelerated learning, with gains of up to 0.6–0.8 years in reading and a notable increase in math mastery, from 20% to 56% in some cases.

The Fellowship also focuses on character development, instilling confidence, communication skills, and a strong sense of agency. Through initiatives like Kids Education Revolution, students are empowered to take leadership roles and influence their education.
