This book deals with the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in North East India. The Bangladeshi issue is a very serious issue in the contemporary politics of Assam. The Assam Movement from 1979 to 1985 is one of the best example of movement against the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Assam. The Assamese people suspected that there were many Bangladeshis living illegally in Assam. They felt that unless these foreign nationals are detected and deported, they would redice the indigenous people of Assam into a microscopic minority in their own lands.
