Lakshmanamurthi, born Sivan Arul Raja, hails from a devoted family and used to worship gods like Ganesha, Muruga, Mariyamman, Sudalai Madan, Lord Krishna, Maha Vishnu, Goddess Meenachi Amman, Lord Shiva and so on. After the age of 28, he started practicing meditation and gave up idol worship. He practices Yogasana and Pranayama for his safety, health and soul protection. He has introduced thousands of people to practicing meditation for self-realization/God-realization.
Even though he was born in a non-vegetarian family, because of his devotional attitude, he has avoided non-vegetarian food for the last 40 years. He contends that as long as we eat non-vegetarian food, our sensitivity to God will be postponed. Vegetarian food is preferable for practicing meditation and self-realization.
