Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalGIS (Geographic Information System) is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, and display spatial or geographic data. It allows users to create maps and analyze data related to a specific location or area.
GIS data can be in various forms such as satellite imagery, aerial photography, GPS data, and other sources. The system uses this data to perform various functions such as mapping, spatial analysis, geocoding, and more.
Some basic concepts of GIS include layers, attributes, features, and spatial analysis. Layers refer to the different types of data that are overlaid on each other to create a map. Attributes are the characteristics or information associated with each feature on a map. Features are the individual elements that make up a map, such as roads, buildings, or rivers. Spatial analysis involves using GIS tools to analyze and understand patterns and relationships in the data.
Understanding GIS basics is essential for anyone interested in working with spatial data or pursuing a career in GIS. There are many resources available to learn more about GIS, including books, online courses, and tutorials.
