S V Upendra Charya writes to print media as he intends to do his bit for worthy causes, particularly for the cause of needy and neglected from rural places. As a freelancer, he has consistently been writing for news journals ever since his very first article was published in Deccan Herald about thirty years ago. In spite of his full time job in the public sector ITI, over the years Upendra Charya had contributed hundreds of articles to numerous news dailies and magazines. He visits places all over Karnataka, to write his travelogues and he travels mainly to write about all such issues concerning the people of remote villages. He has done MA and LL.B from Mysore and Bangalore universities. Upendra Charya had also written many news articles under his pen name Sudha and Sudhi.
He travels to explore. And he travels to write about the places of his visits. Over the years Upendra Charya had visited most of the tourist places in Karnataka. As a freelance writer he has written hundreds of news features about hill-shrines, heritage sites and about scenic river spots where he had spent most of his free time as he worked for a public sector ITI in Bengaluru.
