Breaking the Silence Understanding Domestic Violence Among Muslim Women

Author Name: Dr. Sabina Begam Ahmed, Dr. Aditi Nath | Format: Paperback | Genre : Educational & Professional | Other Details

This study delves into the plight of Muslim women victims of domestic violence in Assam’s Cachar district. By examining factors contributing to domestic violence, the impact on victims, their views on service agencies, and the challenges faced by these agencies, the research offers a comprehensive look at this critical issue. Data was gathered from the respondents receiving help from three key organizations: DLCCIW, Sakhi One Stop Centre (SOSC), and Swadhar Greh Home. Through both qualitative and quantitative methods, the study highlights the severe effects of physical and emotional abuse on victims' lives and family dynamics. While most respondents were satisfied with the services provided, the study identifies areas for improvement and underscores the need for increased awareness and better service delivery. It also suggests future research to include the experiences of male perpetrators to gain a fuller understanding of domestic violence.
