Cherian Koshy
Prof, Dr Cherian Koshy, following his under graduation, and post-graduation in General and Plastic Surgery, from Medical College Trivandrum, joined the Department of Plastic Surgery at St John’s Medical College, Bengaluru in 1988. He was busy operating on form and function denied at birth or deprived by accident, besides cosmetic surgery, before moving to the Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Here he was busy operating on cancer patients, doing ablative surgery followed by reconstruction. Then it was a lateral shift to be Head of Palliative Medicine. He has published several scientific papers in peer reviewed journals, and is the recipient of several National and International awards. He is credited with starting Teleclinic services connecting Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum and Munnar using Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN) which secured him a bursary-award from President of Singapore. He is widely travelled, trained in Palliative Care by its Founder Dame Cicely Saunders, at London. A Haggai Institute Alumnus from Maui, Hawaii, his leadership and oratorial skills have made him a sought-after teacher. Following retirement from RCC, he continues as Faculty teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at SUTAMS, Trivandrum.
