In an individual with diabetes, on a clinical level the major objective is to design a regimen that will improve the metabolic factors associated with the development and progression of complications. Plenty of plants from different regions of the world have been investigated for anti-diabetic effects. Most important medicinal plants with hypoglycemic properties, reliable clinical and laboratory evidence. One such beneficial herb is Gymnema sylvestre and Stevia rebaudiana, possessing hypoglycemic properties and forms the platform of diabetes therapeutics in the traditional system of medication. S. rebaudiana as a traditional plant is famous due to its sweet taste and beneficial effects in blood glucose regulation The significance of G. sylvestre and S. rebaudiana in diabetes management, the herbal-formulations from the herb together with its standardization and clinical trials on animal models, and why Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor gamma (PPARγ) may serve as a prospective molecular target for Gymnemic acid. The treatment of DM many traditional plants have been preferred as natural source of drugs because they are considered to be safe, less toxic than synthetic one and strong antioxidant activities due to which these plants become more effective against diabetes.
