Principal Dr. H.V. Deshpande was the Principal of Ajara College, Ajara Dist. Kolhapur, founder member and working President of Sindhudurg Sahitya Sangh, Sawantwadi, Secretary of All India Marathi Natya Sammelan, Sawantwadi, Member of the Senate, Academic Council and Faculty of Arts of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, President of Shivaji University English Teachers’ Association, recipient of ‘Gunavant Shikshak Puraskar’ Shivaji University, Kolhapur, two Olive Reddick Awards (for research) of Indian Association for American Studies, State Award for excellent NSS work, EC member of the IAAS twice and of Indian Colleges Forum ( ICF). He is a recognised guide for M. Phil and Ph. D. research and a referee for a few universities in Maharashtra, NAAC Assessor, and he has 38 years of degree teaching and 22 years PG teaching (English) experience to his credit.
His writings include Sunderwaditeel Sahitya Chintane, Literature and Literary Criticism: Indian and Western Perspectives, Pearl Buck’s Fiction: East-West Cultural Encounter, and Research in Literature and Language: Philosophy Areas and Methodology.
