Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalThe Bhagavad Gita is a conversation between Krishna and Arjuna at the battle of Kurukshetra, where a great war was about to take place between two cousin brothers, the Kauravas and the Pandavas. Arjuna was reluctant to fight against his own relatives and friends and sought advice from Krishna.
Krishna did not want to incite Arjun to war and bloodshed through this discourse of The Bhagavad Gita. Krishna wanted to guide Arjuna to perform his duty as a warrior and maintain the principles of dharma or righteousness. Therefore, The Bhagavad Gita is not an instigator of war and bloodshed, but a spiritual discourse that teaches us the art of living and dying.
Sri Krishna probably narrated the Gita to Arjuna for many reasons, but an important reason was that Krishna wanted to reveal the supreme science of the Gita to the world through Arjuna, who would serve as a role model and teacher for future generations.
