Computer vision as a field is an intellectual frontier. Like any frontier, it is exciting and disorganized, and there is often no reliable authority to appeal to. Many useful ideas have no theoretical grounding, and some theories are useless in practice; developed areas are widely scattered, and often one looks completely inaccessible from the other. Nevertheless, we have attempted in this book to present a fairly orderly picture of the field. We see computer vision—or just “vision”; apologies to those who study human or animal vision—as an enterprise that uses statistical methods to disentangle data using models constructed with the aid of geometry, physics, and learning theory.

He has secured his doctoral degree from Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Anand Nagar, Krishnankoil. He has received a rich number of national-level recognitions. The research areas are Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and the Internet of Things. He has a good number of publications in reputed journals and conferences.
Dr. S. Hariharasitaraman is presently serving as Assistant Professor in the School of Computing Science and Engineering from VIT Bhopal University. He completed his doctorate on the topic of analyzing data integrity schemes in cloud computing from KARE. He completed his Masters of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University and his Bachelors of Engineering in the field of Computer Science& Engineering from Madurai Kamarajar University. He has more than 45 publications and 5 book chapters in National, International Conference, and peer-reviewed International Journal proceedings indexed in Scopus, SCIE, and SCI databases and 1 Australian patent. He has more than 17 years of teaching experience and 2 years of Industry experience as a Lead Quality Analyst from top NIRF ranked Institutions.
