Born on 7th October 1950, Meera grew in the bylanes of Delhi, known as Old Delhi.

Although her family was quite liberal, emphasis was given on the overall upbringing of a girl that included being good at all the household work. Cooking was a major part of this upbringing.

Meera gives all credits to her grandmother for all the recipes.
