YOU CAN’T CAST, MOULD, 3-D PRINT OR PRICE-TAG EMOTIONS:

Times are not far, when we can perhaps cast, mould or 3-D print all physical objects under the Sun, howsoever complex they may be. But can you ever artificially reproduce emotions? Perhaps not. One need a bleeding heart and a fertile mind to germinate emotions. One may perhaps need a ‘N-D printer’, with ‘N’ tending towards infinity to reproduce emotions, artificially. Emotions are simply put, just emotions. You should neither categorise them nor put a price-tag on them. We still do not hesitate to associate emotions with terms like cheap, shallow, empty, hollow, intense, pricey, beautiful, natural, artificial etc.

If the emotions come in so many hues and colours, why not create a beautiful collage with them. Dress up the emotions with words, put some bridal make-up, put on some shiny bright ornaments and voila; a beautiful poem is born.

‘Kuch Saste, Kuch Mange, Bhaav’ is a collage of similar emotions of an IITian Engineer. The poems are more of a collection of mixed, interwoven emotions, experiences, experiments, thoughts, imagination, contents and concepts than decorated, grammatically-impeccable, language-skills-demonstrative poetry. Read these poems with an open mind, as if sipping a well-matured wine, to soak in the emotions and relish the poetic thoughts.

Rakesh Saini

Shri Rakesh Saini was born on 27 March 1964, in a village near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, in a middle-class family. He completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious University of Roorkee (Now IIT) in 1984. After serving two years at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) during 1985-1987, he joined Military Engineer Services (MES) as an Indian Defence Service of Engineers officer, in 1987. He also obtained the Masters of Engineering (Power Systems) degree from his alma mater, in 1997. He is working in Defence Infrastructure Sector for last thirty-one years. Reading all kinds of literature and writing, in both English and Hindi, is his passion.

Rakesh developed his penchant for Hindi poetry at a tender age and started writing poems for confining them to dust bins, at the age of sixteen. The desire to excel in academics and professional commitments somehow, kept the creative hungers on tight leash. However, the creativity worms, invariably refuse to die the natural death and always crops up with some fresh leash of life. The present endeavour is his effort to bite the bullet. He has sniffed the dust bin in his mind, completed some of the half-written poems and thus compiled all his poetic thought in his first Hindi poetry collection.
