Dr. S. KARUNAKARAN
Dr. S. Karunakaran currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tamil at Madras Christian College, Chennai. He holds Master's degree and Ph.D. degree in Tamil from the same institution. His doctoral research, done under the guidance of Dr. S. Balusami, former Head, Department of Tamil, focused on the topic of "Ayars' Life."
Dr. Karunakaran's research interests span cultural anthropology, Folklore and ethnography. He is recognized as a leading scholar on the Ayars, an indigenous community in Tamil Nadu. His publications, including the books 'Ayars' (2021) and 'Ayars Ethnography' (2023), significantly contribute to the understanding of the social life, traditions, and cultural practices of the Ayars community. With a solid foundation in Tamil language and literature. He has authored 26 research articles published in various scholarly journals.
