Magic at Ferns and Blooms

Author Name: Elvira Fernandez | Format: Paperback | Genre : Children & Young Adult | Other Details

Magic at Ferns and Blooms is the first of a trilogy for children and teenagers that weaves magic into the day-to-day life of a technologically advancing world where life has become a sprint and nature is more attractive as a game or wall paper on a computer screen or smart phone.

At a time when magic is not so real anymore and technology has taken over, Ms. Patricia Sycamore and her cat Snowie come to live in a cottage named ‘Ferns and Blooms’ in a quiet neighbourhood not far from the Magic Forest and things begin to happen! As an English teacher at St. Anne’s School, she is much loved by her students, especially by five children who live near her.

Unaware that their teacher is a fairy and one of the magic folk who live in the Magic Forest, the children visit her often and spend much time in her beautiful garden. They help Ms. Patricia and Snowie to put wrong things right, quite unknowingly too! Soon a friendship develops between Patricia and these children, born out of mutual respect and liking.

Would you like to join Ms. Patricia and the five children as they try to make a difference in the lives of those around them with a little magic?

Elvira Fernandez

Elvira Fernandez is an avid reader of all kinds of literature, but children’s literature, fantasy and romance top her list. She is a Rajasthan-based writer who loves writing for children. She has written some short stories, plays, poems and content for some academic books, apart from some editing assignments. Working as a Senior English Teacher in a prestigious school in Ajmer, she shares a close connect with many children and enjoys the quirks of her students. She is extremely fond of animals, especially her fur babies- a dog and a cat. Her love for children and her pets finds expression through her stories. “A teacher always remains a child at heart,” she says. “Surrounded by so much of liveliness; a teacher is constantly in a state of effervescence.”

She feels that gaming and texting has left children immune to the joy of turning pages and empathy. By intermingling realism and fantasy in this book, she aims to enchant children to read and inculcate a better way of living.
