Maj-rooh: The Magical Souls is a tribute to the poets and lyricists of the sub-continent—alive and immortal. It aims to present before the readers handpicked works of these Word-Wizards, who have created 'Magic' through their works in the 200 and odd years, and shall continue to stupefy us for centuries to come. It also attempts to break the barriers of language and translate their notable works from different tongues across the Indian subcontinent to English, and serve it all onto a uniform platter.

Sharad Kamal Bezboruah

Sharad Kamal Bezboruah is a law student from Assam, currently pursuing his MBA (Law) from the School of Business Management, NMIMS, Mumbai. Hailing from Jorhat and brought up in the far-east oil town of Digboi, he developed a keen interest in translation, alongside poetry during his school days. Trying to translate primarily songs and poetry from both his mother tongue, Assamese, as well as Hindi, his official second language in school; he comes forth with an attempt to compile selected translations of the works of a few of the poets and lyricists that he has admired the most.

His interest and growth in the field of translation can be attributed to his childhood spent in close terms with evergreen Bollywood numbers from the yesteryears and also songs of eminent Assamese lyricists like Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Dr. Nirmalprabha Bordoloi, Hiren Bhattacharyya and Navakanta Barua, to name a few.  He completed his BBA LLB (Hons.) from NEF Law College under the University of Gauhati in 2020.
