This book has been written as per the baisc topics and technologies used by engineering graduates. We have divided the contents into five units according to the requirement. The book opens with a history of mobile and wireless communications, followed by a future vision and a review of current technologies and standards. The units that follow then go deeper into the more technical aspects of wireless communications, such as channel modelling, modulation and coding, multiple access, and resource allocation. The topics in the chapters have been arranged in a proper sequence and the length of each topic is according to requirement in the bachelor of engineering courses.
Our teaching experience tells us that a text book, which is meant for learning a student, who is trying to understand the subject for the first time, must clarify all the basic features of the subject in a most lucid and systematic manner. This book start from the evolution of mobile and wireless communication and then explain the basic fundamentals like models of propagation, effects of fading and multipath, spread spectrum techniques, need of equalization and diversity, types of speech coding, multiple access techniques, basic cellular concepts, different standards like GSM and CDMA, IMT-2000 and mobile data networks. This book also deals with the advanced topics like Adhoc-networks, 4G and NGN.

Prabhakar Sharma received his M.Tech.degree from CDAC-Mohali-Punjab and B.Tech in ECE from UPTU, Lucknow. He is Pursuing his Ph.D from NIT-Patna, Bihar. At present he is working as an Assistant Professor with the department of ECE at ITS Engineering College, Greater Noida. He has the teaching experience of more than 18 years. His area of interest include Solar Energy, Wireless communication, Digital electronics and VLSI Design. He has published more than 15 research papers in internationals and national journals and proceedings. He also published several books on Digital Electronics, Wireless Communication, Antenna and Wave Propagation, EMFT and Renewable Energy etc.
Shilpa Sharma received her M.Tech(VLSI Design) from Banasthali University, Banasthali and B.Tech in ECE from UPTU, Lucknow. She is Pursuing her Ph.D from IGDTUW, Delhi. At present she is working as an Assistant Professor with the department of ECE at JIMS Engineering Management Technical Campus, Greater Noida. She has the teaching experience of more than 15 years. Her area of interest include Digital Filters, Mobile & Wireless communication, Electronics Circuits and image processing. She has more than 10 research papers in internationals and national journals and proceedings to her credit. She also published several books on Digital Electronics, Wireless Communication etc.
Dr Ritesh Kumar Mishra received his Doctorate degree from Lalit Narayan
Mithila University in 2011.At present he is working as an Associate Professor with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Patna. He has more than 15 years of teaching experience and 03 years of industrial experience. His area of interest is communication systems, Wireless Communication, VLSI Design, Computer Vision etc. He has published more than 50 research papers in repute internationals and national journals and proceedings to his credit. He is also connected to IEEE and Indian Society of Technical Education.
Nitesh Pradhan has received his B.Tech. Degree in Biomedical Instrument from NIT Raipur in 2013 (Gold Medallist). I had worked with National Instruments from 2013 to 2017 as an Academic Partner. He is CLAD certified and well known LabVIEW Trainer. Presently, He is working with VVDN Technologies as Sales Engineer. He published several books on LabVIEW, CLAD Preparation Book, SCADA System Design Using LabVIEW & Let Us LabVIEW Part 2 etc.
